TERMS NOT ALLOWED ON LAW TAG LABELS
- SYNTHETIC DOWN
(New addition to IABFLO list.)
(This term is illegal in Europe)
(In addition, SYNTHETIC DOWN is not allowed on packaging or adversting.) - CURLED FEATHERS
(Already on IABFLO not allowed list)
(Term has begun appearing again on labels) - FEATHERS
Term is explicitly prohibited in Texas and in Canada
State officials in other states also will not accept just FEATHERS.
Acceptable terms: WATERFOWL FEATHERS, GOOSE FEATHERS, LANDFOWL FEATHERS, DUCK FEATHERS, CHICKEN FEATHERS
Note: It is acceptable to use the term FEATHER if a further description is part of the down and feather labeling:
DOWN AND FEATHERS
(50% DOW N / 50% W ATERFOW L FEATHERS)
GOOSE DOWN AND GOOSE FEATHERS
(50% DOW N / 50% FEATHERS)
GOOSE DOWN AND FEATHERS
(50% GOOSE DOWN / 50% GOOSE FEATHERS)
The following would NOT be acceptable
DUCK DOWN & FEATHERS (The DUCK only applies to DOWN)

Acceptable labels would be:

(50% DOW N / 50% FEATHERS)
DUCK DOWN & WATERFOWL FEATHERS
